As usual, we like to attempt to predict the future trends in order to prepare ourselves physically and mentally for the upcoming season. The way to do this is to take a look at the previous year and decide the popularity of the trends and the possibility of them being repeated again.
Gladiator Sandals
Spring/summer 2011 brought us some of the predictable season trends as well as a few newer trends. Our typical fashion choice of s/s 2011 is of course the gladiator sandals. This style of footwear is great for the boiling summer sun, with the strap design that helps keep your feet cool and sweat free. Gladiator sandals convey an Egyptian goddess vibe which is commonly supported by the metallic colour choices. Shades such as gold, silver and bronze are neutral colours that tend to go with just about any other shade on the colour wheel; this may be the reason for the consistent popularity each year. This makes gladiator sandals a firm contender to be a top trend in the upcoming s/s.
Chunky Block Heels
In 2011, chunky block heels scoured the catwalk shows and high street stores to bring us a more comfortable, secure heel to walk on. Colour blocking was a great trend last year which was incorporated into some of the chunky block heel designs, often featuring loud, primary colours. Candy colours such as mint, lilac, lemon and baby pink at set to be huge this season, so it is likely that chunky block heels will be making an appearance once more but with a cool new makeover.
Wellington Boots
After yet another year filled with muddy festivals, our Wellington boots were our saviour! Not only did they keep our feet free from sloppy dirt and rain, they made us look completely stylish whilst we had to go days without luxurious shower facilities. With a huge variety of quirky patterns and vibrant colours to choose from, we learnt that Wellington boots don't always have to be a dull and dreary green shade. No doubt our beloved Wellington boots will be our rescuers yet again this spring/summer. Wellington boots also score a double whammy as they can also be worn during the snowy season or whilst walking your dog in the woods.
So it seems that this upcoming spring/summer season is going to adapt last year's shoe trends due to their previous success and practical aspects. No doubt there will be some pleasant surprises and maybe a blast from the past, we will have to wait and see.
